Annual Meeting and Volunteer Appreciation
Once a year, the Humane Society of Yuma holds its Annual Meeting of the Members to recap HSOY’s amazing accomplishments of the previous year. However, it is also a great time to honor our AMAZING volunteers during this event and thank them for everything they do here at HSOY! During this event, we will recognize the Volunteer of the Year, that special person that has gone above and beyond for the animals in our community. We will entertain our volunteers with a short video recapping our previous year and all the great work they have done here at the shelter
Congratulations to our 2025 Volunteer of the Year, Jackee Homan!
Years of showing up. Years of doing the work that needs to be done. This year’s Volunteer of the Year is someone who knows the shelter inside and out and has never hesitated to step in and help.
From assisting at foster vaccination clinics alongside fellow volunteers, to cleaning in the cat nursery, to making rescue transfer runs every Thursday with her husband Jim, her dedication has been steady and dependable. As a former kennel tech, she brings firsthand knowledge, experience, and a deep understanding of what it takes to care for the animals who come through our doors.
She’s funny and a little brash, but has a huge heart for animals- and the shelter is better because of her. We’re grateful for the time, care, and commitment she has given over the years.
